Nails.

Brutal, scathing, savage. It's not a snapshot of your last performance review, Nails are for real.

Alongside Full Of Hell, Trap Them and All Pigs Must Die, Nails have forged a powerful crust scene mixing filthy elements of hardcore punk, death metal and powerviolence. Get it up ya!

Beginning with 'Unsilent Death', the uncompromising sound is nowhere more pronounced than on the title track itself, 'Suffering Soul' and 'Scum Will Rise'. Vocalist/guitarist Todd Jones is terrifying, his furious delivery is tar thick, suffocating and clawing you with power.

Second release 'Abandon All Life' is a burnt offering on the altar of grindcore with some death metal overtones. There is a slick varying of the sound with some layered elements on 'God's Cold Hands'. 'Wide Open Wound' and 'Pariah' are riff city, the drumming carrying you from breakdown to breakdown with malice.

'You Will Never Be One Of Us' is a tempering of that paper shredder sound, Kurt Ballou capturing a Nails soul that retains that glass shard quality whilst trimming the fat a little. There is some experimentation, such as closer 'They Come Crawling Back'. 'Savage Intolerance' and the title track keep the hurt going and the guest vocal spots lend weight to the fury.

Nails remain a grimace to a handshake, honesty, sincerity and unadulterated rage pouring from every wound, howling and spitting at the metal scene. If you know, you know.
