Pig Destroyer - Pornographers Of Sound.

Virginia's own Pig Destroyer have dropped their first live album and in our opinion it CRUSHES.

'Pornographers of Sound', recorded at the St Vitus Bar in NYC, reminds the faithful why Scott Hull and Co's blend of searing thrash and blistering grind punk has won them fans the world over.

It was always hard to imagine a live recording capturing PD's frenetic energy and dark foreboding but these 23 tracks show that with the right ingredients and a killer back catalogue it can be done. JR Hayes' howling and pained growls are clear in the mix, Scott Hull's guitar is biting and powerful and Adam Jarvis' drums punch through without an overtly processed sound. J R Blake gives the songs their signature gravitas with backup vocals and samples and Travis Stone is the bottom line on bass duty.

The song selection is an excellent showcase of the band's 20 plus year career and features prime cuts from Prowler In The Yard, Terrifier, Book Burner and 2019s Head Cage. Standouts include 'Loathsome', 'Thumbsucker', 'Cheerleader's Corpses', 'Gravedancer' and 'Piss Angel' and with this calibre it's hard to argue that this is an essential addition to any metal fans collection.
