Behemoth - Demigod.

That production cannot be understated, it is on par with neutron star levels of density, beautifully layered and doesn't sacrifice the killing stroke.

“Demigod” may be Behemoth’s breakout album in the eyes of many, but it was actually their seventh offering from a career starting in 1991. From where we are standing it is easy to see why; this Middle-Eastern tinged classic placed high in the Polish Music charts! A fluttering, bright acoustic lick kicks off opener ‘Sculpting The Throne Ov Seth’ which burns at lightning speed through furious riffs. It's a melting pot of death metal aggression and old school thrash, a bastard standard that Behemoth very much flies high and proud on the whole album.

‘Demigod’ and ‘Conquer All’ follow and display Nergal’s signature deep growl, savage yet somehow melodic. The production at times gives the impression that there are a dozen Nergals coming through the speakers! Behemoth really pins down a harmony between defiling your ears and hooking you in; tracks like ‘The Nephilim Rising’ and ‘Xul” have an almost infectious groove to them. The feel and melody on ‘Demigod’ feels like it was written to be performed live.

That production cannot be understated, it is on par with neutron star levels of density, beautifully layered and doesn't sacrifice the killing stroke. The guitarwork throughout is regal and glorious, the drumming is like a hail of bullets...we don’t know if we should keep writing or just let you go check ‘Demigod’ out! Behemoth are a brilliantly consistent group and this album is a testament to that quality, it starts strong and just gets stronger. Go. Go listen. Right now.
